About GPS Running Watches
A GPS running watch tracks pace, distance and route without a paired phone, and the price gap in this category is enormous. Budget kid-locator style watches like the MOTOsafety and Optimus trackers sell for under $40, while dedicated running and multisport watches from Garmin, Suunto, Polar and Coros run from about $130 up past $1,300 for a titanium Fenix 8 Pro. Most of the listings here are Garmin, spanning the Forerunner, Instinct, Fenix, Venu and Enduro lines across nearly that whole price span. Suunto, Polar and Coros round out the field with watches priced mostly between $170 and $700, competing on battery life, solar charging and touchscreen displays rather than raw GPS accuracy.
How we curated this list
Every watch here is judged on Amazon listing data: current price, average star rating, review count and reported units bought last month. Nothing on this page is based on wearing a watch on a run or timing its GPS lock. Instead, the price is checked against the review volume and rating, so a watch with 5,900 reviews at 4.5 stars carries more weight than one with a handful of reviews, even if a newer model has a higher headline rating. Listings with zero or near zero reviews are flagged as unproven rather than dropped, since some are simply new releases.
